Class Name: Barton Reading Tutoring

Prerequisites: The Barton Student Screening will need to be passed to begin the Barton System. If it is not passed, we can start with a program called Foundations in Sounds before moving on to Barton.
Class Description: 
In this class, I will work one on one with students who struggle with reading and spelling due to dyslexia using the Barton Reading and Spelling System. According to their website, Barton is an Orton-Gillingham influenced system that is a "multi-sensory, direct, explicit, structured and sequential program designed for intense intervention." I will meet virtually for 2 hours a week split into 2 to 4 sessions (ideally 4 half hour sessions). In the sessions we will go through the Barton lessons using The Barton Remote Tutoring System on Whizzimo through a shared screen on Google Classroom as well as play some virtual reading games that reinforce what is being learned in the lessons. I have experience tutoring Barton through volunteering with an organization called Refuge Reads. I also have experience virtually tutoring with an organization called Whiz Kids. I've enjoyed getting to know the students I've tutored and look forward to getting to know more through my new tutoring business. As a former FACE student, I'm happy to offer my tutoring services to FACE families at a discount*.
 
* Please note, this tutoring service is usually $300 - $500 per month for this same tutoring service.  Mara is offering a generous discount!  This tutoring service may continue through the summer if the parent and teacher wish to continue.
